Hello everyone,

One among the various issue that many expatriates usually raise is Health Care. So, I think it would be very interesting and helpful to start a topic about Health.

   > So, can you please list some of the private clinics & public hospitals in Budapest?

   > What about dental care? May be some tips about the costs?

   > Some addresses of Eye care clinic, opticians will also be welcomed!

   > Some addresses of pharmacies around Budapest will also be useful.

Do not hesitate, to add more related items to the list.

Thanks in advance for your participation!

IMPORTANT NOTES:

Medical treatment in Hungary is adequate, but hospital facilities and nursing support are not good compare to other West EU.Physicians are generally well trained, but there is a lack of adequate emergency services. Some
doctors, particularly in Budapest, speak English :) but in other parts of Hungary you may need a interpreter :( . Doctors and hospitals usually expect immediate cash payment for
health services.
Emergency phone numbers:
Ambulance: 104 or 350-0388
Police: 107
Fire: 105
24-hour English speaker: 112. The Department of State strongly urges Americans to consult with their medical insurance company prior to traveling abroad to confirm whether their policy applies overseas and whether it will cover emergency expenses
such as a medical evacuation.

Budapest Health care provides you with access to affordable health care services in Budapest, Hungary. Doctors generally are well trained and comparatively well equipped, as many Austrians will attest.

Hey

If you make a contract and pay TB what was (last time when I checked) about 200FT/day you got free healt care.
Of course doctors expect bribe if you want to get better sevice.
good luck

My next-door neighbour is a retired doctor. She tells me I should have medical insurance to get by in Budapest -- which I don't have.

But what is 'TB' and how does one get it? (no obvious medical jokes required :))
