Certificate of Good Behaviour Query.

I have recently been told that to secure residency in the UAE - all expats require a security of Good Behaviour. If I have a caution due to a minor theft which I was later acquitted of on my police records from the UK - will this stop my chances from securing renewed residency? I had secured residency before and this incident took place whilst I had residency here.

It's giving me sleepless nights - any help or advice would be greatly appreciated..!

Hi SeekingRenewal > i moved your topic on the UAE forum.

I am afraid there might be some complications in receiving the good conduct certificate if such an issue is there. The good conduct certificate should be obtained from your home country, which I assume is in the UK. If you were a resident of UAE, you can try obtaining a police clearance certificate. but that would require a valid Emirates ID.

You need a police clearance for the last 5 years I believe.

Keep in mind that this is based on the countries you lived in for more than 6 months during that period.  If you were in UAE for a portion of those years, it would supersede your UK time period as residency would be counted in UAE - and for UAE time, you dont need police clearance as they already have the details in their record.   And you can obtain a police clearance from the UAE without a valid Emirates ID - valid ID is only needed for online application; you can physically apply or through a representative if you don't have a valid ID and have left the UAE.

The only problem would be if you left UAE and went back to UK and now need to apply for a police clearance from there which would highlight the caution.  But if you were acquitted then it shouldn't be marked in your record for a clearance.  Clearances generally flag convictions / felonies not necessarily accusations - varies from country to country.

Thanks for the replies everyone - the only thing is that even though I was aquitted of the charges so there's no criminal record per say - the caution still appears. And in this country I don't think they'll understand the difference between the two..? And I'm pretty sure they'll see a caution as a criminal charge...
What are your thoughts..?

Yes, you are right.  The Saudi bureaucracy is generally unimaginative.  If a paper needs to be blank, it has to be blank....even one word on it means it won't be accepted.
