Good day everyone,
I have lived in Germany for many years now and due to a whirlwind of events, that I rather not get into, I have neglected to learn German. It is obviously at a point where I will be living here for the foreseeable future and it has become critical that I become fluent in German. I initially thought I could find someone willing to Skype with me regularly and tutor me in German but I doubt I would find anyone willing to do this free of charge, so here I am.
My question is this; would anyone be willing to assist me in learning German or be able to provide some useful tips/resources?
Thank you in advance.

There are people who are trained in methods for teaching the language and thus well prepared to do so quickly, efficiently and in-person (which is far better than by Skype or other remote methods). They are called German teachers. You can find them in a language school near you, or contact a Volkshochschule.
Good luck!

It would probably also help if you mention how much you are willing to pay, per lesson, because - as you correctly pointed out - nobody would do it for free (teaching one's mother tongue to a newbie is not much fun for the teacher, after all).
(I think EUR10-15/hr for a student with no teaching experience and EUR25-45/hr for a DAF-certified instructor is a fair price for one-on-one lessons. You get what you pay for!)

Yea, that sounds about within my range. Unfortunately I can't go on site to learn as I have a young child otherwise I would have done so already. thanks for the advice, however.

Then look for a language teacher who comes to your home for the lessons.
