Mobile SIM in Riyadh Airport

Post new topic

Hi forum members,

Im confused whether i should get a matrix card with Saudi roaming or are SIM cards available once you reach Riyadh airport.

Any latest update from group members will be helpful.

Thank you...Rakesh

Riyadh airport has kiosks for STC, Mobily and Zain.  You can get a SIM card on arrival but like everything in Saudi, it is chaotic and depending on the queue (which no one follows), it might take you some time.

Thank you very much for your response. Is iqama required? I have work visa valid for 90 days, but Iqama will take time.

You can get one based on your Passport at the airport and later you have to register it on your iqama as and when you will get it.

Yep. No Iqama needed initially.  Update the Iqama later when you get it.

It's much easier at the Domestic flights terminal, where the queues were non-existent at the STC desk (no other expats fighting for SIMs!).  A good idea to hang around a while to see it activate, then you can go back to the desk if nothing happens.

Make sure to clearly ask for phone and data if you want both - my wife got given a data-only card and it took ages to sort out and another trip to the airport.
