Moving from Auckland to Shenzhen

Hi everyone!

My name is John, I live in Auckland (New Zealand),
I plan to move to Shenzhen as soon as I get a job.
My future wife lives there. All about love

I just started searching for jobs there.
Have not tried the recruitment firms yet.
For now I'm trying Linkedin.

I work in IT, suppose most of you will find this funny.
A guy from IT searching for job in Shenzhen.
There should be lots of jobs there.

And there are, but they seem to be more of the management type.
I'm a software developer, should I be worried?

Any guidance would be really great!

I too met a Chinese girl, feel in love and got married.

I had to teach initially. Sure the SZ area was full of factories, but but the salaries for an expat over local talent was light years apart. So I taught English.

Then while I was teaching I looked for work in my field. It took me three years.

IT in China will not make as much as you would expect. You would make more teaching English. You could set up your own business. You would need to put it in your wife's name. You will be set if you two work together.

I would start taking Chinese language lessons.

Thank you for sharing your experience.
I'm studying mandarin.
I have noticed the salaries will be a bit lower,
but I think there are many other incentives.

Teaching will be an alternative.
