Hey all! Hoping some can give me some advice.

Got a job offer, and wondering if I'm being listed as a local employee -- not sure how the pension would work if I don't end up making Sweden my permanent home.

What would be the benefits of being listed as an international employee until I achieve citizenship?

What does your offer letter say? & What makes you think you are an "international employee"?

Pension will be as per government rules no ifs and buts. That said you can withdraw it as per the applicable rules also. There are no additional benefits untill if and when you become a citizen. Same rules apply for all.

I'm being listed a local employee. I'm originally from Canada, I just don't want to be paying into a pension that I cannot collect later.

Some are:
1. You'll be able to study free (so does spouse)
2. You'll get health insurance
3. You'll get residence permit for 2 years
4. Your children can study free

@hardbread: You can collect the pension. Infact you can manage your through 3rd parties as well. No any 3rd parties but the authorized ones.

@Coolbrain: I think he is asking what are the benefits local employment vs international employee. What you are listing are benefits for residents. They are for any resident employed or not. These benefits are not "free", the one paying tax bear the cost.

I think in general you are trying to compare this employment offer to an expat contract as a consultant. That's another situation but as you said you have a local employment offer. So as I mentioned earlier as per government rules.
