as you know were looking at moving in January,

Hi and welcome back.

The whole of Amsterdam is expensive, you're talking an average of 1,500 euro p/month for a one bedroom apartment in the centre - and that's just for the rent, it gets cheaper as you move further out from the city.  If your budget is limited, then you can use the link I previously gave you to the Pararius website; at the top, it has a budget figure filter, so you fill that in and it will exclude all the stuff you can't afford.

Word of warning about online apartment rental, the cheap stuff is usually gone within hours/minutes of it being posted, but it's useful to see what the marketplace is charging.  What many people do is plan for a couple of weeks in something like Airbnb, then use that time to find something they can move on instantly.

Hope this helps.

we aren't actually looking at living Amsterdam, hopefully a little town or something outside of that area as we know it is expensive.

just wondered if anyone knew of any nice areas/towns in the Netherlands as we are completely stuck on deciding on one :)
