Okieboy ~

Do you have a source for the ex military visa? Thanks ~

carlisom78

The SRRV Extended Courtesy Visa is the route I'm taking. As stated the fees and bank account requirements are $1,500 USD minimum balance at an "Approved" bank. It has to be on the PRA list of approved banks for this specific purpose. Then there is the $1,400 application fee. which I'm OK with. There are several benefits to using the PRA (Philippine Retirement Authority) for aid in getting your visa.\1. The annual renewal few is $10 US instead of, I believe $200. 2. The PRA will write you a letter making the process of opening the required bank account MUCH easier. 3. If you should decide you want to get a Philippine drivers license the PRA will write another letter to help speed the process along. 4. If you want to apply for a work permit the PRA will help you with the required paperwork there as well. 5. They have links to information on medical insurance you can check out rather than blindly searching for medical insurance on your own.

Yes, for ex military.......

Dear Bill,

As long as you have

1) DD214

2) pension of at least $1,000 USD per month

3) you are at least 50 years of age

(Plus other documentary requirements and government fees)

Then yes, you can qualify for the SRRV Expanded Courtesy and get better rates. Deposit of $1,500 and annual fee of only $10

Best regards,

MaryJane Gomez... excellent service... did the whole processing in one morning, after Id already opened an account in Bank of Commerce with her assistance. Can find her on google.
Her and her Japanese business partner are both very well known in PRA offices in Makati as they have assisted many expats with SRRV visa. As to the current worth of the visa who knows given the abysmal way we have been tried denied being allowed to exit or enter the country.

VAL-Firstly you can find all the answers to your questions online, I did and applied for a quota visa May 2015 and received it 6 weeks later. I did live here 3 years on a tourist visa before I applied and that helped me thru the front door. Once you apply in person they will post it online if you are approved. My pension at the time was 800-1000 usd a month and living here 3 years already I had about 10,000 usd in Bpi savings account. I am a licensed Elem and Special Education teacher in the USA and Philippines considers that"Special interests or talents of interest to the Philippines" as stated in the requirements for the quota visa that Philippines gives out 50 a year as an incentive for foreigners to RETIRE here.(To boost their economy) I was over 60 at the time I applied and I think you are not old enough to apply for any permanent visa as I think the age is 50 or 55.I am not sure about that. ALL info can easily be obtained online at their websight. I didnt really need an attorney to apply and receive the visa as many have done it solo without one BUT it looks good on the application because immigration knows you had to spend money to pay an attorney. They like that here.Everything in Philippines is about money as you will find out if you retire here.If you need any additional I may be able to provide feel free to contact me *** but I think all is self explainatory on their website. Good luck-Baguio Jimmy

Steve, thanks for the input. My timeframe is going to be about 10 months too. My wife is a Philippine citizen and I was thinking of getting a 13a visa which might cheaper in the long run. I am more interested in least time consuming and stressful process I have 10k to burn and a good pension. I do like the idea of having a trustworthy agent to tell me what I need to do step by step, how to set up the bank deposit account, paperwork I need. Have you corisponded with Mary Gomez directly yet?

Mike-You dont need  to pay an agent to do most of what you wanna do. Set  your own  bank account when  you get here.I recommend BPI and BDO.Have had them 9 years.Great service and they are I believe the oldest  banks here. I assume you have a bank account in the states? You can bring up to 10 thous USD with you without declaring it. Thats what I did. Bring a few check books from your US bank and use your checking account in USA to be your 10,000 usd deposit to open your account.Thats what I did. You will have to wait 2-3 weeks for the check to clear. When you open the savings account and write the 10,000 usd check to deposit it may or may not show up in your account until the check clears. You cant use that money at all so bring enough with you. Also a credit card for emergencies. I took out a 10,000 usd life insurance policy for my Ex live in Pinay gf and she will get that when I die.Single mom with 5 yr old daughter(not mine and is why we broke up-she wanted a kid and I didnt) Also what I did was make 2 Last Wills. One for Philippines and one for USA and my family there.I keep 90% of my assets in my bank in the states and when I am cremated the death certificate will go to my family in Calif so they can close my account there and distribute assets to my beneficieries in America. I tried to leave my BPI and BDO bank account savings to my EX but cant do that unless we are married.I am not interested in that. Rocky relationship. Just wanna help someone less fortunate as me when I check out. The man upstairs keeps track of all this. The bank  keeps the money in my accounts(excluding the life insurance amount) so I have decided to just keep a few grand in my account now. Banks have enough already. If I can help with any advice feel free to contact me ***..................JIMMY

Yes, but that can make you get trouble tto get OUT any biger amount legaly from Phils to other country by missing documentation of moving money in.

Okieboy

If you served in the military not retired, that is the best visa 1500 in bank 1400 for the visa $10 a year fee

For the time being, only 50+ can apply for SRRV and only when they are already in the Ph.

Valakos-I just read an old post of yours. Another member here already gave you some pretty good recent info. You must be 50 or above to apply for the visa you want  but doesnt mean you cant live here on a tourist visa for 10 years.I lived in Philippines for 3 yrs on a tourist visa before applying for my quota visa I received in 2015.. It will cost you much more to live here on a tourist visa then what I payed as they are constantly raising the fees. If you live here 10 years with out any mischief, criminality ect you shouldnt have any problems getting your visa. Something you mentioned in your post you have a hundred grand and if I were you I wouldnt put that in any bank here. They only insure up to 50,000 pesos or 10,000 usd.I have a banking account in the USA that I keep 90% of my money and I also have a separate Will from my Philippines Will. My family in America has my USA Will and when I die my Philippines beneficiary here will send a copy of my death certificate to my family in America (Also to the US Embassy in Manila)so they can close out my account in the states,Any money here in Philippines goes to your wife if married. Cant leave it to anyone else but a relative and they must come here in person to get it. If they dont then the bank here just keeps it. This is all confirmed by my attorney here in Baguio.Do you have family in the states? I suggest you do what I am doing.I used to leave about 20 thous usd in my BDO and BPI combined but have narrowed that down to 2-3000 usd. I use BDO for savings account and the ATM when I need cash and the BPI I use to have my monthly soc sec deposited into. Then when my BPI get ups to about 5-10 thous USD I wire transfer all but 1000 usd in the BPI pension account to my USA account(Zions bank in Salt  Lake City) A very trusted bank..If my BDO savings starts to get a bit low i just take a few grand in USD out of my BPI account, exchange into pesos and put it into my BDO account. These two banks are the best in  my opinion.Email me if you need more info ***......................JIMMY

You don’t pay Att. James S. Biron for his services he gets paid by PRA. He’s very good at what he does and has a very good system in place to keep your documents organized.

Even if he charged a small fee it would be totally worth the cost. He alway responds to his emails for the requested information. I will gladly refer him to my friends who are interested in leaving woke America.

One disadvantage will be when China goes for Taiwan we may again be stuck or not be able to enter. Oh while hopefully I’ll be home in the province watching the mushroom clouds from a distance. I’m not making light of the situation but very well could happen. With the amount of male military age Chinese they have their foot army in place. Same is happening at our southern border.
