Hi!

I am finalising a relocation to KL from Dubai, and one of the main deciding factors is education for my kids who are both in an IGCSE (National Curriculum of England) school here. One is going into Grade 10 (a critical year) and the other will be in Grade 7. They are both good students with a passion for sports, arts, debating and public-speaking. I am bit inundated with all the information online. While there's lot of factual information, real or authoritative reviews seem to be scarce. I was wondering if any of you could help me shortlist a few schools to consider. A good mix of academics, qualified teachers, extra-curricular and a positive environment. My budget is in the range of MYR 50,000 - MYR 80,000 per annum for two children. Any advice or guidance would be much appreciated.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Can you clarify is that your total budget for both children? Where do you need to live for easy access to work place? Although busing is usually possible, living in convenient locations are advisable for you and the family.

Either way, the budget at the class levels required will not include the top notch schools such as British International or Garden International etc.

If you look up member with ID KiwinKL she has some good comments on schools and you can find all her comments by clicking on her ID https://www.expat.com/forum/profile.php … mp;lang=en

@Gravitas. Thank you for your response. My office is on Jalan Raja Chulan Rd. I am not too worried about the work commute (still not decided where we are going to stay). Would prefer kids spending less time in traffic. The budget is for both kids together. Have already written to KiwinKL separately :)

Gravitas

You do need to take your commute seriously because of horrendous traffic in some directions if driving.

Noted. Thanks!

@ Gravitas. I shortlisted a few schools based on observations and feedback in the forums. Would love to know your opinion, if you are familiar with any of them.

UCSI International School
Taylor's International School
Wesley Methodist School
Tenby School (not sure which is the right campus)
The International School Park City

Gravitas

UCSI has gone very downhill I understand so remove from shortlist

Park City is not within your budget

Taylors - I think KiwinKL has written about this (Ampang campus is closest to KLCC)

Wesley exam results - http://wms.edu.my/kl/about-us/academic- … ults-2017/

Tenby - Setia Eco Park - long way outside KL - But convenient for Kommuter Line train with journey time over 1 hr Tenby results http://www.tenby.edu.my/the-group/examination-results

That's useful. Thank you. Taylor's seems like an option and maybe it's worth increasing the budget to accommodate ISP.

Park City is the next nearest to KLCC. But no public transport. Mont Kiara is quite close which is popular expat residential area, but again, no public transport
