Indonesian Immigration Law UU6-2011

Article 71  states that:


Every Foreigner who is present in the Indonesian
Territory shall be obliged to:

1. Provides all information required concerning
personal identity and/or his/her families identity
and report every change of civil status,
citizenship, occupation, Guarantor, or change of
address to local Office of Immigration;

or

2. Show and submit any Travel Document or Stay Permit
owned when required by the Immigration Officer on
duty in the interest of Immigration control.

Wherein :

Article 116 states that :

Every Foreigner who undertakes no obligation as
contemplated in Article 71 shall be punished with
imprisonment for a maximum of 3 (three) months or fine
sentence at the maximum of Rp25,000,000,00 (twenty
five million Rupiah).

Whilst it is generally not required for foreigners with a stay permit to carry their passport or KITAS/P, I would strongly suggest they carry their ID card and a copy of their KITAS/P at all times.
The SKTT or KTP OA is generally considered enough proof of legal status but the photocopy won't hurt to have handy.
I used to carry my KITAS and KITAP at all times along with my local ID, but always in a hidden wallet so as to avoid loss.
Not having the local ID was always considered to e a minor offence but being nabbed without it could mean a night in a cell, a small fine, then going to get one anyway.
