Hi all.
My husband and I both live In South Africa.
I have a British passport.
What application do we use to immigrate there? Can I immigrate without a visa and if so which application do we apply with for my husband as the EU1 form seems most applicable but as far as I can see I then have to be living in ireland before he can apply. Please help.
Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

As a UK passport holder, you already have the right to live and work in Ireland; your husband does need a visa - the process is described at this link.

If you note, your husband has 3 months from arriving in Ireland to apply for his residence card, so you can travel together.

Hope this helps.

I can not thank you enough for your help, we have been feeling so lost but to know someone is willing to help us means the world.

What visa will he need to have to go over there??
As I understand, we both go there and then only once we are there can he submit the EU1 residency card application. Can we only do it once we are both there as the application asks for an Irish residential address and proof of Work done by me (The EU citizen).
Are there any financial requirements that we need or proof of jobs before going?

Once again thank you so much.

Will the visa that he needs to apply for be the EU1 application?
If so When we are filling out the application and it asks for a Irish residential address then what do we put there?
Are there any financial requirements that we need or proof of jobs?
Will my husband be able to work there on the EU1 visa?

Once again thank you so much.

Hi and welcome back.  To try and answer your questions:

I just downloaded the Form EU1 that you referred to and I agree that it looks like the form you'll be completing.

Re residential address; your husband has 3 months from arrival to complete this process, so it will be the address where you're living at that time.

Financial Requirements; if you don't have a job with income, then you will be required to "reside with sufficient resources", i.e you'll have to pay your own way, there is no State support; there is also a comment regarding Health Insurance, so you need to be able to pay for this as well.  Unhelpfully, it doesn't say how much, just that you need documentary evidence, so bank statements, pay slips etc.

Work - Yes, once he has his permit, he can work, so he'll be depending on you to start with.

Hope this helps.
