Relocating and buying a business in Bali

Post new topic

scubalee

Hi there.
Can anyone help with some accurate information please?
I am considering buying an existing scuba diving business in Bali.
My wife and I are British citizens.
What are the formalities and are we actually able to own solely a business and live full time in Bali?
Any help is much appreciated.
Regards
Lee

Hi Scubalee,

If you want to open a scuba business in Bali, just talk to the experts.
Katherin German citizen who opened the scuba business in Labuan Bajo  since 2009 "Lagona Divers". Maybe you can collaborate with them.

If I recall correctly, previously expats can only own up to 95% of a PMA company and the other 5% has to be owned by an Indonesian. PMA = penanaman modal asing/foreign investment. I think this law has been changed in 2007 such that expats can own all 100% PMA, however, Indonesia does not permit foreigners to own any land/property to run such business. Some people try to get bypass this law by purchasing land under a local's name, however I advise you to choose someone you can trust if you are considering that option.
