transit visa in China

I was planning to fly from JFK, NY to Nepal and I see that there is a transit in GUANGZHOU international airport if fly China Southern airlines.

Do i need to take transit visa for China ? If so where do I take it and how is the airlines ?

if transit time is more than 24 hours you need visa.
