I see there was an advisory put out by the us gov listing extreme caution when traveling in mexico, Aug.22. We are traveling from McAllen tx along the east coast line to Belize. Anyone heard of any problems? Does anyone know of people traveling thru recently?

We've driven the coastal route, south and back north, many years ago. So I can't comment on present road and other conditions.
We have been taking the central route the last couple of drives, with point of entry at Del Rio/Ciudad Acuña. Our most recent trip from Belize to Alberta was just a little over a month ago.
We have not had any issues concerning safety. That's not to say there aren't any.
In Mexico, just like traveling anywhere in the world, be aware of your surroundings, study up on, and respect local laws and cultures. Use common sense, be patient and be kind.
