That could be hard by friend, i am here in the Philippines, and as a foreigner if i want to marry a Filipina i would need a lot of papers, he would need to go to the Syrian embassy in Beirut to check the papers required if you would like to legally be married in Syria instead of Philippines because it would be harder in here for Syrians, good luck though. and congrats for your gathering, god bless.

We will meet you here after one year asking us how to get divorce paper with Arabs.
Unfortunately you are not the one who is making this mistake.
Anyway good luck in your marriage.

To get married in Syria would be a big hassle with the current security situation, unstable government and processes as well as the need for you to get a visa to go there.   Philippines has a lot of bureaucratic requirements for marrying foreigners and it will take you time to get the documents plus Syria is a country which many immigration departments around the world make trouble for in visas and other matter due to the perceived security risks as a result of the current situation.

Best option would be to figure out how to get married in Beirut as with the proximity to Syria, your fiancee would be able to source documents rather easily.

The reason the other poster commented on Arabs and divorce is related to cultural differences (not just for Arab men but also for men from the sub-continent e.g. India/Pakistan).  Most men in this part of the world grow up in segregated societies (except for those in higher socio-economic strata - a minority) and in most countries there is no free mixing with local women i.e. dating (Which is why, a lot of the locals date expats in countries with size able expat populations.  And when it comes to single women, the biggest population of these in most GCC countries e.g. UAE, Bahrain, Saudi etc is from the Philippines.  The vast majority of the time, this dating doesn't lead to marriage due to the Arab guys family not agreeing due to ethnic and religious differences).  While things are changing, there are still some societal pressures such as the importance around a girl being a virgin when getting married, gender roles for women, importance of face saving / respect inherent in cultural norms etc etc.  Due to all of this, a lot of men in this part of the world don't really know how to get along with emancipated women, especially from the western world.  A lot of ego issues and insecurities surface which create problems in marriages when the euphoria of the initial infatuation wears off.
