French Family Book

Post new topic

This may sound a little weird, but I was turned down for a family visa because I did not have a family book. The French Consul in Miami did not tell me anything except I have to have one. I searched google to no avail. So what is a family book and what is the layout of one.

Ia Orana Tetawelch,

I have a friend who is a commissioner in the French Polynesian government. This is what he told me regarding your question and the documents required.

Proof of nationality for parents (Passport and birth certificate)

If both natural parents are going with the children, passport and birth certificates for the children, showing both natural parents names on the birth certificate. If children are adopted, need proof of adoption by the parents traveling with the children – court documents.

If only one parent is traveling with the children, it is more challenging. Then you need proof that the parent is a parent of the children, birth certificate and passport. Also need notarized authorization (or court documents) from the non-traveling parent that the non-traveling parent authorizes the children to travel with the traveling parent. – this is to prevent one parent from kidnapping children.

I hope this helps.

Thank you. It makes sense now. I think my confusion was based on the word book.
