My first trip to Belize is a GO!

I finally pulled the trigger and booked a flight from Alabama to Belize.  I'll be in country February 5th - 19th.

As of now, I've booked no rooms, nor do I have an itinerary, although I do plan to hit AC, CC, Hopkins and Placencia all at some point...

Is there anything of note happening on the Cayes or Coastal Areas of which I need to be aware?

Fantastic! Enjoy your trip to this beautiful country. Use common sense and you shouldn't have any problems. You may need a car for the Hopkins and Placencia portion of your trip. Good luck.

AC and Placencia have good monthly publications in print and online. www.Placencia.com sorry I forgot the URL of AC but google should help.

Also the various communities all have one or more Facebook page, giving news and events so google again. Another good read is www.tacogirl.com.

San Pedro Scoop is a good site to check out. Not sure what you plan on doing on your trip, just vacation or recon for future move. But lobster season ends February 14th so get your lobster before then ;) There aren’t any Belize Holidays during your visit but you may still encounter a parade or festival. If you want recommendations on places to stay, dive operators, places to eat, how to get around, etc shout.

Hi, Guys!!!!

Thought I'd bump this post to update y'all on my itinerary...

I have a few rooms booked, but no plans to go to any specific places or to any specific events...  I like to "wing it", occasionally...  Boots and a backpack...

If any of y'all have any information on potential soirees, meet & greets, or any general tomfoolery and/or random shenanigans that are taking place, please let me know!

I'm really looking forward my 1st trip abroad and meeting new people...

Tues 2/5 - Thurs 2/7:  Hopkins
Fri 2/8: Run Amok?*
Sat 2/9 - Sun 2/10:  Placencia
Mon 2/11 - Tues 2/12:  Caye Caulker
Wed 2/13: Ramble Aimlessly?*
Thurs 2/14 - Sat 2/16:  San Pedro, AC
Sun 2/17 - Mon 2/18:  Solicit Funds for Bail?*
Tues 2/19:  Go back to Alabama...

Thanks for your time,

TUSK

I don't know of any specific events going on, no holidays over that time period. Some options for possible 'meet and greet':
The Curve Bar at the Sittee River Marina just S of Hopkins
The Pickled Parrot in Placencia  (Maya Beach Bistro, a few miles N of Placencia,  has the best food in the country)
Lazy Lizard Bar & Grill on Caye Caulker
Many choices in San Pedro
If you are a  Facebook user, you can probably find dates and times of specific 'get togethers'.
We might have dinner at Chef Rob's in Hopkins on the 5th, but not certain yet. I will let you know.
Have fun!
