Dear All:

We just moved to KL from UK. The employer insurance for outpatient GP/Specialist is not enough to cover my family. I am looking for private medical insurance who can provide both outpatient GP/Specialist visit and hospitalization cover. I found that most of the insurance providers only cover hospitalization and not outpatient GP/Specialist visit. Any one got any tips?

Thanks.

An insurance with outpatient visits coverage will always cost more. You've got to consider if you want to pay more for the insurance or just for outpatient visits. It will depend on how often you visit GP/Specialist.
Many insurances, which don't cover outpatient visits, still cover outpatient procedures e.g. for cancer treatment (if cancer is not a pre-existing condition).

1. Are you interested to obtain  a private insurance which covers internationally or only in Malaysia?

2. How much you pay monthly for your current employer insurance and is there any deductible? If it is free for you, why do you even bother to consider looking for another insurance? Simply pay out of pocket for outpatient visits.

3. How much do you want to save by switching to a private insurance?

4. If you have any  pre-existing conditions, does your current employer insurance cover them? You may need to find out if a private insurance covers pre-existing conditions. Most insurances don't cover it.

Hi:

Thanks for your reply.

I have young kids and visit to GP/Specialist can be frequent (never know). I am looking only for cover in Malaysia. The international insurance from Cigna etc is quite expensive.

Do you know any insurance provider for MY cover.

Thanks.
