Hello my name i s Shylin currently staying in zimbabwe . I recently qaulified as an electrician. I did apprentice as an electrician. Right now am doing german lessons since i want to move to Germany as an aupair. Is it possible for me to do an ausibuildung after my aupair year since i already hold an apprenticeship certificate from my home country.

It seems to be legal for one to stay in Germany after working as an au pair if they get a student visa or accepted into a training program.

Here is an interesting link on the subject: https://www.migrationsrecht.eu/german-l … in-germany

The focus of being an au pair is to further learn the language but you usually need an A1 level of German to be eligible. This might help your chances of later finding other employment in Germany. But why would you do an apprenticeship when you have already done one! It doesn’t make much sense to relearn something you are already certified in – unless it is clearly a higher level training. The first question would be if Germany recognizes this certification.

It’s also questionable if a non-EU citizen will later get a work visa. Usually this only happens for people in fields that have a shortage of workers and I don’t know if this would apply to electricians. But it you really manage to be an au pair then you’ll have the opportunity to figure out your further plans once you are in Germany. And you will get practical experience to see if you actually like living in Germany and if you can manage to learn the language well, which is a fundamental to success.
