Hello All :D

Hope you all well and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

We currently live in Durban, South Africa and looking to relocate to the beautiful island of Mauritius with my hubby and 4 year old.
Can anyone assist with information on the best way to do so?

All information is greatly appreciated.
Thank you kindly
Jo

Dear Jo

Happy New Year to you and your family. First you need to know on which purpose (scheme) you wish to move to Mauritius: Business, employment, retirement, etc. Each scheme is well defined with its specific set of conditions.

Hello Nadeem - Thank you for your reply.
We looking to move to create employment and bring something small and new to the island.

PARADISE PROPERTY

Dear Joannivieira,

If you are planning to create employment then its easy. You must present your business plan and go through BOI (Board of Investment) . Its very simple . Am in Travel & Real Estate business.
Thanks

The word 'its easy' is wrong and might lead to false hope.
Even if you create jobs, the aspects to look at are:

(a)  If a non-Mauritian is allowed to operate the business. There are restrictions in regulated areas such as tourism, education, medicals, restaurant, etc.

(b)   Something small: it requires at least USD100,000 to get an investor permit and a turnover averaging MUR4 million a year. Is your business too small for these conditions? If yes, you need to re-think the strategy or adopt alternative plans.

(c)   The Board of Investment is now called Economic Development Board (EDB)
