Hi ,

I am working in sales.I have called my family on permanent visa for two years and my company has given family accommodation and car.

Suddenly , company has terminated me  & given one month notice. Now my son still has one month left for the completion of his academic session.

I have requested my company to allow to complete my sons academic year and also to provide the car till that period since our company is located in Secluded location.

In my contract , it is written that company will provide me car and petrol.

Now company is trying to extract money from me to offer me the benefit for providing the accommodation and car.

Now I don't know what to do further as I have small kids and the car is mandatory for me to take them outside in hospital ,grocery etc.

Can I complaint against the employer in the Ministry of Manpower.

Hi shekharnewexpat2014,

Well, I understand your predicament.

Since your company has decided to let go of you, they feel that they are not obliged to you now.

See what are the terms of your termination as specified in your employment contract. Are those terms of termination being adhered to by both the parties involved - that is your employer, and you ?

Secondly, request your employer politely to let you use the vehicle with fuel at their cost. If they are adamant not to do so, tell them that you are left with no other option but to file a case against the employer with the Ministry of Manpower.

Since your exit is certain, try to leave as amicably as you can. If you file a case then it could get delayed and a bit messy since you will be on the defensive.

Also, it would be worth your while to consult with a labour lawyer. For the first consultation, they will not charge you anything.
