Hi there
I'm trying to find the owner of a property with an old ruin in the Monchique area in the Algarve.
I already tried to ask the neighbours but nobody seems to know whom it belongs to.
Do you have any ideas or experience how to find the owner?
Thanks for any answers.

Try the town hall/council?

hello
you can try to see the coordinates on google maps, take them to camara municipal and they may have that info for you.  sometimes is hard to find when the person passed away and their children did not update the records in camara, finanças and conservatoria.
good luck

I believe there are privacy laws around this and unless your property borders on the given property of interest you will be out of luck.

@SimCityAT I understand but could it remain as a point of reference for others? I could update the thread with what I find out. I'm trying to figure out who owns an apartment in my building, so I may contact them regarding condo management.

@Murphy 111,

That's too easy. Just go to the "Conservatoria do Registo Predial" and ask for your building's certificate ("certidão predial"). There you'll find all the owners, their addresses, existing mortgages, etc.

Take your "caderneta predial" (from AT Finanças website) with you. You will need "Artigo Matricial" of the building.

Thank you kindly @JohnnyPT. The language online is not entirely clear. I have my building's Certitidão Permanente ( Permanent Certificate )  and it does not include any information on unit owners.  Is this the same as the Certidão Predial?  Is there such a thing as the Certidão Matricial ( Matrix Certificate )? Is this what I should be requesting? Thank you for assistacne and patience. : )

There is the " certidão predial " for the whole building and the certidão predial for your home. Two different Certificates. The whole building's " certidão predial" identifies the fractions, the permilage % of each fraction, and the owner of each fraction. There is no "certidão matricial". What does exist is the "artigo matricial" of your home, which appears on both your "certidão predial" and your "caderneta predial" taken from AT Finanças website.
