Applying for a professional card

Hi All,

I am thinking to apply a professional card. My current contract is indefinite in nature but work-permit will expire in 2.5 months. The company is re-evaluating my work-permit extension.

Three questions;

1. Do I need a new employment contract (for professional card)?
2. How long it takes to get a Professional card?
3. There are 15-20 documents listed at the werk.be website. Which documents are mandatory?

Thanks,

Diksha

Hello ExpatBe,

Please note that a professional card is only granted to those who are self-employed.

Since you seem to be in Brussels, the links below may help you find answers regarding your situation:

Hope this will help.

It takes 90 days for a professional card. I used Acerta for assistance with the application. Start with a good business plan.

Hi Deborah,

I have already applied for the professional card via Xerius and I live in Turnhout. I am waiting for the reply. So I can hope the response only after 90days period or within that. Also the onestop shop did not guarantee about the status follow ups for this, is that ok If i could follow up with the onestop shop for knowing the status.

Your advice would help.

Thanks,
Veera

Hi veeshan,

feel free to call directly to services (see contacts on werk.be) and push your processing. Otherwise, the timeline is unpredictable.

Hi Deborah,

I have also applied for professional card.Did you receive your professional card before 90days or did you have to call them to find out your card status? I have sent emails but did not receive any reply from them.

Hi,

If your document is already with them, they will provide your file number/reference number to track. You would need a regular follow up, as the timelines are unpredictable.

I am still waiting for mine applied in December and following up with them for the same.

Please do call them.
