Relocation with EU Blue Card of another EU Member State

Post new topic

Hello,

Anyone here have an idea about the procedure of relocation to Germany, for an expat coming from outside the EU who is living and working in Netherlands with a Blue card less than 18 months.

Does he need to come back to  home country and  apply for a working permit in the German embassy or he can apply directly in the immigration office in Germany ?

Thank you for your help.

Best,

beppi

The "EU Blue Card" is something of a misnomer, as it is not valid EU-wide, but only in the coiuntry that issued it.
Having one in one EU country does help when applying for one in another country: The formalities are easier. But you must apply for a new one in the country you want to move to!

So, it is possible to apply directly in the immigration office in Germany, no need to come back to home country to apply for it in the embassy?
