Mandatory kindergarten rules in Hungary

Post new topic

Hello everyone.

I have a three-year-old and it has come to my attention that kindergarten is compulsory in Hungary when a child reaches that age. Now, the thing is that my spouse is not employed and she's fully capable and willing to take care of our child. It seems unreasonable to me to have to give my child to the kindergarten because the state says so.

Is there a way to be exempt from this rule?

Thank you.

Theoretically possible till age 5  if all  the bureocrats agree:notary or censervator, the principal of the kindergarten, and the health visitor.

I have read that document but I found it not specific enough about the exemption provisions.

have to sign to a kindergarten and then ask the "jegyző" or the maintainer(if private or religious) by parents with the aproval of the principal of the kindergarten and the védőnő (health visitor).

They unlikely to agree unless you have some serious reason .
