The National Electronic Licencing System was launched yesterday.

With this new system, applications for Occupation/Residence permits as well as Building and Land Use Permits for investors and businesses can be made online through a joint 'Government of Mauritius' and 'Economic development Board' portal.

The aim is to improve business facilitation in Mauritius, to give an impetus to investment and to reduce bureaucratic hurdles for professionals and investors, local or foreign, when applying for permits.

I paid my Occupations Permit fees by credit card on the portal just yesterday.

Worked like a charm!

I intend to employ a consultant for my business in Mauritius. My company is registered with the CBRD and I have a CIN number.

Could someone please help by suggesting the paperwork that I need to issue to my future employee in order for them to get an Occupation Permit to work in Mauritius?

Does Mauritius have a system in place like the UK wherein only certain companies are licenced to sponsor work visas? Or can any registered company issue an undertaking to issue work visas (occupation permits)?

Many Thanks!

Have a great weekend!

Also check the website I posted above. register and you will find more information.

It's not really about the company itself, more like the economic sector in which it is operating. Some sectors and type of jobs are reserved for locals only. I'm not sure where consultancy stands on this.

Either way, you will have to convince the authorities that this the profile for this type of job is not found locally and it is imperative that you recruit an expat.
