music in Kaufhalle (other than my own headphone music) is not fun in my opinion, hate it!

You wait till you get stuck in the lift in the Funkturm in Berlin; piped music to die for.

I did not notice any music in a supermarket for ages.
But in Munich they play classical music in the U-Bahn. Nice!

Like classical more than that mainstream popmusic, but only when i listen on my own.

Do they play it at the Train station or in the train/metro?

But i want to know there are other German supermarkets with no music.

They play it at the stations. Apparently, it has reduced incidences of hooliganism and aggressive behaviour.
I am frequenting many supermarkets and other shops and in recent years never noticed any music. It seems to be out of fashion now - and in the few shops that maybe still have it, it is at such low volume that I don't notice.
But why do you ask here - and not just go to the shops to find out for yourself? Does it really bother you so much to make a difference? (I can imagine many more important reasons to frequent or avoid a shop!)

Lol, how can you know a shop have music if you don't notice it?
Is there is a sign at the entrance that indicates it? You Google if the shop play music or not? Asking the store customer service or what?

I live in Netherlands, i want to know if there are other supermarkets in Germany than Aldi and Lidl that do NOT play music. And have same things, not products in racks and more things.

I i go to a shop i'm first listen if there is music, if there is. I directly leave the shop and get never back in again. I buy noting at all at a store that plays music.

Is your living country Germany?

Why do you have such a strong aversion to music in ahops???
And what if you are in another place (not shop) that has music?
In any case, this is probably considered such a minute detail that you won‘t find any information on the Web or through customer service. Just go to the shops and leave if you really cannot accept it.

O only want to hear my own music. Also hate popmusic (top 40)

And yes do not get to other placed with music, restaurants etc.

Hmmm. For one you are writing about supermarkets in Germany , no such word as “GermanyKaufhalle”. But as mentioned, it is hard to say if one simply doesn’t notice it. But I have tinnitus and am very sensitive to such things. I think Kaufland and Real generally play some background music but no others in the Stuttgart area that I am aware of. This includes not just Aldi and Lidl but Penny, Netto, Rewe, Neukauf and others. If they do, it is really so quiet that one doesn’t notice. But there is always the possibility that a decision to have music, and how loud, depends on the individual store and is not the same for the whole chain. I think music is more common in the big department or clothing stores like Karstadt, H&M, C&A etc. If this issue is so important then I imagine you can call the stores in the particular city you plan to visit and just ask.

Just out of interest; when I did my Logistics degree, one paper was in retail logistics.  Until then I had never realised the science and psychology that goes into what the outlets do to encourage specific sales; music was just one important part, I never went into enough detail on the specifics to speak authoritatively though; suffice to say, the big shops do not just plug in the local radio station.

To the OP, blijf lekker in Nederland.  :top:

I paid attention when doing the groceries today: Our Kaufland has definitely no background music running. But they do have a PA system, as shown by the announcement (twice) that a certain kid lost its parents and should be collected at the service counter.
