Dear Mr./Mis,

I am living in Italy and my "permesso di soggiorno" is going to expire at the End of October 2019. I am about to finish my PhD.

My  "PhD defence/Viva (final presentation)"  will be held at the beginning of November 2019. My PhD program coordinator (Administrative) told me, that I can stay in Italy legally for 2 months after the expiration of "permesso di soggiorno". Is it correct? I just want to confirm, Since I don't want to take any risk.

Thank you very much for your time and suggestion in advance.

Best you check with the relevant authorities about this. Explain why and it may not be a problem.

Thank you very much for the reply. The problem is not body respond from authority. that's why I am asking it from people's experience.

Perhaps go to their office and explain it.
