How long does it take to exchange a Blue Card in Spain?

I have a Blue Card from another EU country and my company will relocate me to Barcelona. The lawyers advised to get a highly skilled worker visa since it is faster but I do not want to lose my Blue Card just because of time.

Is there anyone working in Spain who got a work permit with a valid EU Blue Card? What was your experience like?

The Blue Card program is basically unimplemented here. Spain has only given out 75 Blue Cards in the last three years (vs. Germany's 53700) and I think all of those were in situations like yours where an existing blue-card holder moved from one EU country to another. Maybe try getting a second opinion from an immigration lawyer that deals with the type of clientele who are moved from country to country?
