Enter Singapore on Tourist visa after IPA approved

GuestPoster240

Hi Friends,

I am an Indian passport holder and currently working in Malaysia. I got the job offer in Singapore and they had applied for my IPA. I received my IPA last week. My start date with the new company in Singapore is 1 Aug'19.

I understand that I can enter Singapore for employment as a single entry using IPA. But my new company in SG stated that as per their on boarding process I need to appear for a medical test before joining on Aug 1. I have to return back to Malaysia aster medical test to serve my further notice period in my current company.

Since my IPA permits me for single entry, I am confused about the two situations,

1. Shall I get tourist visa for Singapore and visit there for my medical exam and exit , and later enter SG using IPA ? or
2. Shall I enter Singapore using IPA and get my medical done and exit,  and later enter SG using tourist visa ?

Will there be any problem if I enter Singapore on tourist visa while having my IPA already approved?
What is safe for me?  Any advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

You should use the IPA to enter Singapore ONLY when you intend to have the EP issued and start work.
For everything else, use a visit visa (SVP).
If you enter on IPA and exit again without having the EP issued, the EP is automatically cancelled.

Beppi, Thanks for your response. I would plan to travel on tourist visa first and later on IPA for employment purpose.

What beppi said is right. Also...

you can tell your Employer about your situation. I am sure they would know the complications. Check if they can send MOM a letter to grant multiple entry  visa against the IPA for a small payment of $30. Your IPA should have this point mentioned on Page 2.

Hi Avinashjha,

Thanks for your advice, though I have already applied for tourist visa. I am in doubt whether my tourist visa will be approved since my IPA is already approved and exist in their database.
