WP expiry date vs RP expiry date

Post new topic

msanad

Hi all,

I have a question regarding the renewal of WP , if my WP will end @ Nov-2019 but my RP will expire @ Feb-2020 , which one is in affect

Thanks

Aneesh

Already discussed many times in the forum. Please take time to read.

Once you WP expired you can't legally perform your work. But you still have some time to stay in Belgium until your RP is expired.
If you plan continue work you have to renew WP before it's expiry date.

Hi Konstantin,

Thanks for your reply

so If my Work permit is expired , and no other WP is issued I can't work , but can stay up to my  RP expired.

what if new Work Permit is in progress , while the old one expired already , shall this allow me to work till the new one issue?
what about the RP , do I have to renew it once I got the new WP , or wait till it expire then go for renew?

In case there are no valid WP you are not app lower to work legally.

RP renewal also takes some time, once you got new WP I'd suggest renew your RP.

Hello msanand,

If your work permit renewal is already filed with the Ministry in about 4-6 week your employer should get letter from Migration Economique stating approval of work permit renewal. With this letter most of the company/client allow you to continue work. In the mean time it takes anywhere from 1-3 months after WP renewal to get Residence approval. According to some you can continue staying in Belgium even if your current RP has expired till you get your new RP.
With the new Single Permit system you will get WP+RP in the same ID card, there is no separate WP and ID card.
