This is not a complicated procedure.  We wire transfer money from our U.S. financial institution to Bancomer or from Bancomer to our U.S. financial institution  on occasion and have for years. Easy and no problems so far.  Your best bet is to go to Bancomer and ask about the procedure for crediting the sales proceeds   to your Bancomer account.  Once that transaction has been affected, you can wire the balance of the proceeds or a portion thereof to your account at Wells Fargo.  Of course, you can arrange for the proceeds to be wired directly to Well Fargo  in the states but I prefer the former process.

Thanks for the information, I was worried that I could not repatriate the funds from the sale.

In your initial post you did not mention repatriation of proceeds of a real estate sale to the U.S. as your primary concern.  I do not know of any such limitation on transferring real estate  sales proceeds back to a U.S. Dollar account in the States but if someone is aware of any such  legal impediments to  this process, let us know.  The only experience I have in international transfers of funds to affect real estate sales is in buying two homes down here in Mexico, one in Jalisco State and one in Chiapas  State. In order to affect those transactions, I transferred substantial amounts of Dollars converted to Pesos from the U.S. to Mexico and experienced no problems with international money transfers.  If your money is deposited into Bancomer and later wired to the States you should experience no difficulties.

So the logical first question would be, have you talked to the banks involved?
Who would be more likely than them to know the laws influencing them?

Why can't you just write a check or get a cashier's check and deposit it into your US WF account?
When we deposited $65,000 for our condo in MX I just wrote a check and they cashed it.  They would have done a wire transfer but we weren't in any hurry so just mailing a check was easier.
