Post new topic

I recently got word that i was accepted as an expat in Vietnam.
while the company will give me the official offer next week,
I'd like to know if I can ask them to help cover the moving expense or if that is even a thing.

obviously when I land there i will incur expenses such as deposits on the apartment, plane tickets and such.

Hi,

Under Labour Code of Vietnam, subject matters of a labor contract shall be negotiated and agreed under the free will of both parties and not violate laws and morality. So, technically, you are able to ask your employer for such help. Of course, your employer may ask for some conditions in return and that's fair, so just prepare yourself some acceptable conditions and have a discussion with him/her.

Personally, I think you should ask your employer for an advance of wages, which is an old-but-gold way to temporarily handle financial issue. Also, I believe that basic demand for living is an appropriate reason for the advance of wage and a good employer will not deny doing so to help his/her employee have a stable living.

Wish you luck!
