I am looking for some guidance re BNF Bank,  I have banked with them for 6 years and overall apart from alot of limitations there seem to be for expats, they are ok.

However, this week I asked to release some funds from along term savings accounts due an emergency and they are actually refusing it.  Their status is I have to wait until another two years, now none of this was explained when we deposited the money.

My question is can banks actually keep our money !  They have referred to head office nearly 4 days ago and I have still not received any answers.

Thanks

you get fixed term deposit accounts, it depends if yours is one of those.

I got my money released there are just too many restrictions, even the cashpoint restriction of maximum 500 per day.

I don't know of a Maltese or UK bank which allows more than 500 to be withdrawn in any one day from an ATM.
We have been with BNF for 7 years and never had a problem.
If you put money in a fixed term deposit the deal is that you leave it there for that length of time and are penalised for early access.

I have several bank accounts, all allow for more than 500 a day at the ATM.  Shrug.
