Hello, I am Belgian and living in Kratie , and I just wanted to know if the overland crossing still grants a visa waiver for 30 days and 2 times a calendar year, because I sometimes read weird stuff, and, I just saw on an English-speaking site that when you arrive by road in Thailand, that we must now have the proof that we will come out, like when we arrive by plane.
It must be an aberration, but if it can be confirmed, I would be very happy, because I go regularly to Thailand, and when I spend a third time in the same year, I apply for a visa. the Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh and I only have to show proof of possession of liquidity in a bank account, but here too, I am not asked for proof that I will leave the country by having to show a flight ticket. I use the terrestrial way, much easier for me, and of course much less expensive.
If nevertheless this fact is real, then it must be very recent.

Hello Christian.

Your question concerns Thailand and Thai Immigration rules.

So you better go to the Thailand forum and ask there, probably there are a number of expats that have experience with this subject.

Apart from that I know that Poipet is one of the most difficult land border crossings. They are very determined to "fight" the visa runners that come from Thailand into Cambodia to only turn around and back into Thailand.
If you have too many stamps in your passport you will be in trouble.

They seem to ask to show $600 in cash plus a return or onward ticket.

Try taking the Koh kong crossing, easy peasy.
Or just fly in and have 30 days "permit to stay".
Last option: stick to your system of getting a visa from the Thai embassy.

Thanks a lot Joe , and indeed , I had precise answers on expat /thailand and nothing changed a lot , except the fact to show money on arrival but not 600 $ , but
10 000 bahts, and anyway , I always have enough money with me in case of problem.
Effectively also , only the Poipet border is quite difficult, but from Kratie , it's also the easiest for me , and to join the Pathum Thani province in north of Bangkok if I go trough Koh Kong , it's also +-250 kilometers more.
There are also Prum , near Pailin , and Daung , in Battambang province but the acces to and from there take time also, I know those borders. That's why I go trough Poipet.
I also have a one year visa and a work permit for Cambodia.
