So it turns out there is an expat woman working sort of in my office. Since we both have similar professional backgrounds, this is our first time here, and don't really know anyone here in Riyadh, I'd like to grab coffee or some food with her, but I am unsure if this is possible and so is she.

Can we go to a coffeeshop, mall food court, or hotel restaurant? If so, where would we sit? Or is this a bad idea. I'm not interested in getting in trouble or causing problems, just thought it would be nice to chat with someone else in the same situation as myself.

as long as its just coffee or lunch or something, you can.

if you both have a mutual understanding, you can go to any cafe or restaurant with a "Family Section" at any time, if you both are at a public place it should not be a crime. legally speaking. but sometimes the nosy people try to make sure you get in trouble. so just keep it discreet and keep a lid on it. act like a couple and you'll be good.

yeah.. just be careful!!!!.. one of my colleague was sent back home becoz they were caught together and they don't have any papers to show coz they are not a couple.

ask yourself this question, "Am I willing to take the consequence?", and if yes ask this other question "How far am I willing to do this?", If it's not worth it then don't, just do your thing in the office, don't do it in public. Remember Murphy's law. Cheers

yeah as salman told u..

u can go were ever u want food court or a coffeeshop or a restaurant
but my only advice to u is go together from the begining , don't wait for her and then she shows up cuz if that happened it might cause u alittle bit problem

Hmm I think I'll err on the side of caution and not do it yet, at least until I get used to things here a bit more.

@PFYT: Try and meet up in an expats compound.. that way no body will bother you.
thats the best and safest way right now.
