Moving to Riyadh

Hi, I will be moving to Riyadh shortly to start a new job.  The company is providing hotel accommodation for a couple of weeks but then I need to find something more permanent.  I hear that most ex-pats live on compounds, is this true?  I am a single woman so this might be the best option for me, although I really only need a medium sized apartment or a small villa not a mansion!!  Also, as I'm moving from Dubai I have loads of stuff including furniture.  What do most people do in this situation?  Do any homes come unfurnished?  Are there storage facilities in Riyadh?  Are there restrictions as to what can be brought in?  Finally, I don't want to drive so what's the best way of getting to and from work everyday as my company doesn't provide transportation.  I have so many questions!!  Any help will be much appreciated.  Thanks all :)

Dear Marce,

No worries. Riyadh is not that different from Dubai or Abu Dhabi in terms of living style.

You can rent furnished appartment for couple of months and price ranges from 1500 SAR to 5000 SAR based on the dist. you will choose so you will have plenty of time to check your new employer "MAY BE YOU WILL CHANGE YOUR MIND" and in the other hand you can search for proper appartment.
We have unfurnished appartments also. But i would advise you to sell your belongings in Dubai and get new ones when you settle here. If you decided to bring them thats fine as we do have storage places rented by month.
For driving issue, women can drive here now but if you prfere to avoid traffic, then you can use UBER or agree with private driver on monthly baises.

I hope what ai mentiond is helping you here 😁.

If you need more information please let me know.

Kind Regard,

What ever you have been asking to know, every thing depends on your salary. To say compounds are bit expensive, but accommodation in saudi is much much cheaper than from dubai. The only advantage for being in compound is having privacy and freedom with facilities. Even you can rent any apartment, but not really sure how it would be managed if you are single women.  Apartments are quite cheaper here and based on your work location you can easily find something close to ur office. As you have to manage your transportation, i would suggest to find an accommodation near to your office and if fat still you can manage with Uber, Careem or taxi. If you need any specific details just reply with ur question.
