Hello All,

Quick question I am hoping a few members here can assist.
I am planning to move to Vietnam in about 5-6 months to live.  I am in my mid 40's with Bachelor Science degree in Business Finance in the USA.  I would like work in Vietnam, specifically teach English.

Does anyone have any recommendations on TEFL certification schools in Vietnam, based on your person experience, that is reputable and guarantee job placement?

Thank you and please let me know if you need additional clarification.

P.S.  I am open to various location to teach/live.

Various language schools, such as ILA, Apollo and Language Link, offer CELTA courses mostly in Ha Noi and HCMC.

However, I don't think any of them offer guaranteed employment. You'd have to check the details with them or on their websites.

The CELTA is not the only certificate but is the most widely recognised. Also, it's not necessary to do your certificate in the country where you teach. So, for example, you could do your certificate in Thailand and then teach in Vietnam or elsewhere.

Perfect thank you, I will check it out.  I am also thinking about getting the credentials here in the USA.

Initially I stated somewhere in this form was going to move the beginning of this year but things got delayed a little bit.  I am definitely making this happen by March of 2020 for sure.

How easy is it to open an account in Viet Nam.  Is it necessary to have a local bank to get paid?

It depends on the school and the type of contract you have. Many schools pay cash. Others require that you open an account with a specific bank and usually open it for you or assist you with doing so.

The topic of opening a bank account has been covered, of course. Here are some recent threads:
