Can my company change my profession?

Hi ,
I am a new one here. Got a job in Oman. But, my original engineering degree certificate is not issued yet. Company says they will bring me there on another visa and after getting degree certificate, they can change to Engineer Visa. I will get my degree certificate within one and half months.
Is it possible?
