Hello everyone,

Homeschooling your children as an expat in Kuwait will definitely come with its load of challenges. Here is a special call to parents who are already homeschooling their children or who plan on doing so to share any information they might have.

Should you opt for homeschooling, is it legal in Kuwait ? Do you require to register your child or do you need any kind of permission / exemption from the authorities ?  If it is not legal, what alternative option/s do you have ?

How do you go about getting all the necessary educational resources (books, syllabus, notes etc…) to pursue your children’s education in Kuwait ? Does it depend on the curriculum ?

What do you add in your homeschooling techniques to help educate your child that might not be offered or available in traditional schooling ?

How do you socialise homeschooled children in Kuwait by providing them opportunities to interact with other children ?

If you have any interest in homeschooling, could you please share your views on the pros and cons ?

Thank you for sharing your experience,
Bhavna

Hello, I just came across this post while searching for information about homeschooling in Kuwait. Were you able to find answers to your questions? Or maybe a support group? If you did find resources that were helpful would you be willing to share?

Any assistance would be appreciated

@sdfarlow08 I believe your best bet would be to check with your embassy or the examination official in the country; for example, I graduated IGCSE in Kuwait, that examination board is overseen by the British Council, so I recall some students would go straight there and take their examinations because they allowed it. Even tho, when we were taking the exams, we had to fill "test Center", usually you'd mention your school, but since the British Council oversees IGCSEs, you could take the test there. So, find out who is responsible for SATs examinations in Kuwait and contact them, I'm assuming you'll follow the American curriculum.
