In this Just for fun thread, we would like to highlight unconventional customs which make Sweden stand out. This is a chance, at the same time, to learn about other countries’ equally interesting traditions.

1. Which country considers cats to be lucky? How about Sweden?
2. In which country should you not write in red ink?
3. Is there anything like a 15-minute grace period in Sweden or is showing up on time or earlier a common practice?
4. In which country do people greet each other by rubbing noses?
5. What is one custom associated with Swedish culture that you have found to be quite unusual?

Thanks for participating,
Diksha

Some say black cats crossing your way brings you bad luck but some own black cats, I am one of them and sometimes I think my elder daughter loves him more than she loves me.

2. In which country should you not write in red ink?

Since I don't know the real answer I guess it's Mauritius.

3. Is there anything like a 15-minute grace period in Sweden or is showing up on time or earlier a common practice?

Showing up on-time is very important in Sweden.

4. In which country do people greet each other by rubbing noses?

Again I guess it's Mauritius.

5. What is one custom associated with Swedish culture that you have found to be quite unusual?

They don't put keys on the table and they don't like anyone else to do that too, they all have key cabinets to hang keys.

I only know Eskimo or Eskimos which are the indigenous circumpolar peoples who have traditionally inhabited the northern circumpolar region from eastern Siberia to Alaska, Canada, and Greenland.

Wow it makes sense Simon, area you mentioned is freezing that people must cover all the body parts with many thick layers of clothing besides nose to breathe and eyes to see. Maybe Sami people in Laponia also do that with each other, nose rubbing.

Hello everyone,

Thanks for playing along  :)

Initially for the nose rubbig/kiss we thought about some gulf countries  http://english.alarabiya.net/en/perspec … olved.html  but yes, there are others as well.

The red ink is linked to Japan and Portugal .

Have a nice day,
