Hi all, we are leaving in the UK and are now coming to that stage in our life when we would like to have a much simpler lifestyle. I am born in Romania, my husband is british but we have not been in contact with this country for a very long time. At the moment we are not quite sure where to start. We are looking for a rural location anywhere. If any of you are in the countryside we would like to hear any sugestions. We are not looking for a flat countryside.

Indeed, no paradise in rural Romania. However, you could have a look at villages near Arad (like Hasmas), Cluj (Floresti), Timisoara. They are not at all like the British countryside, with quiet, green pastures by one's house, though .

Thank you Laura. We have visited Romania last summer and could not believe the overall depresed state of the area we have visited. I was hoping that it was us not giving it enough chance. I was looking so much forward to our trip, but on arrival It was hard to accept the dissapointment. We even ended up leaving a week early and enjoyed Lake Balaton insted. Hungary is so close but yet so far. I think Spain will be our next home.
