Hi all,

I moved to Colombia about 6 months ago, and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made!! I previously lived in New York City for most of my life, and the congestion and the rude people were always dislikes I had about it.

Im currently living in Medellin, where I am able to live in a much nicer condo, with the ability to eat anywhere I want and do much more than I was able to in NYC. The locals here are mostly friendlier, as long as you stay in the nicer areas! At first I was unsure about the expat process, especially with the requirements of the Colombian consulate. They requested many documents from me, especially an apostille on my birth certificate. This really confused me, but I was eventually helped by nationalapostille.
I eventually got all the necessary paperwork for my move, and now I am comfortably living the "Colombian Dream". Will update you guys in the future if anything changes!

Good afternoon.

I am new to this forum and I am considering moving to Medellin in the next six months.  I am curious about the process for buying an apartment in terms of types of closing costs, inspection, taxes, Offer and Purchase and Sale forms, procedures, etc.   How similar or dissimilar is the process to the United States?

Thank you.

Currently looking into the logistics of finding a job as an English teacher sometime next summer once I finish my master's with a TESOL certification. Had been originally intending to go to Mexico until someone suggested Colombia as another viable option (as long as my inner ear disorder allows me to fly!). Oh, and I am frantically relearning Spanish so I can enjoy the culture better :)

Hi my name is Kirk. I am from Washington state in the United States.  I am currently in Medellin and plan to move to Santa Marta on January 13th.  If anyone knows of places that I can rent that would allow a small dog I would appreciate it if you would let me know.

Thanks,
Kirk
