US Work Permit

Hello Forum members

My name's Amelia and I currently live in South Africa.  I'm in the beginning stages of the immigration process to the US, under sponsorship of my brother who is a US citizen.

Upon successful application,  when I arrive in the US, would I be able to start seeking employment immediately or is there a waiting period?  What would the process be of obtaining the work permit?

Looking forward to your response/s.

F4 processing is at filing dates 02/2007 so a lot can change. Currently once a Green Card is issued and activated the holder is free to seek employment. See uscis.gov.
