Where to cash American Express Checks in Barcelona??

Have you tried "InterChange" on La Rambla?

I haven't tried to exchange cheques there, but they Amex signs outside, so it is probably worth a try. If they won't change them they will probably be able to tell you where you can.

It's on La Rambla, opposite Teatre Liceu, I think it is number 76 or 74. You can't miss it, it has bright orange signs, open till quite late in the evening and on Sundays as well.

Brian, I don't know if you have already cashed the checks in and if you had you are lucky. American Express cheques are not really popular here as a few years ago there was a big case of fraud regarding travellers cheques. It is still going now. I know back then Caixa Catalunia did exchange them but can't tell you if they do now.

Brian . . . Cheques are a no, no, I was in Barcelona in May and June of this year.
Before I left the U.K. I set up an Account with £2,000 in it with a Debit Card, and then went to the banks as I went a long.  I also bought a money belt that I fitted under my trousers.  And it worked. Good Luck.
