Adopting a pet in Morocco

Hello,

Are you a dog or a cat person? A pet can add life to a home and make an ideal travel companion during your expatriation in Morocco.

However, formalities or regulations might put you off traveling with your pet making adoption a better option.

Are there any particular rules or procedures for the adoption of an animal in Morocco?

What are the costs associated with adopting a pet in Morocco?

Are there different procedures depending on the animal?

Are pet-sitting options available?

Have you ever adopted a pet in Morocco? Is he or she still with you today?

Thank you in advance for your feedback,

Loïc

Hello Loic!

Its not difficult to adopt a pet from Morocco and bring it to Europe. You need a ll the vaccines done and a blood test that says that the dog doesnt have rabies. I have a facebook page if you have more questions about this subject. My dog is a moroccan streetdog and she lives with me and we have been in France and Sweden togheter. To fly with an animal you need a crate that cost around 1500dirhams, and the medical tests and vaccines around 2500 dirhams + the plane ticket from 500-1500 dirhams depending on the weight.

I could not bring my Russian Blue cat to Mirocco S he was already 16 years old and the vet advised against it. So my daughter took him to live out his years with her in So. California. He passed away last summer. I have since adopted two feral kittens here in Harhoura . Or I should say they adopted me. Both have had their shots and both have been neutered and They are adorable. Now 5 months old. Ying and Yang or Minnie and Misty, one white, one black. Hhhh.
