I am planning to relocate to Australia, Adelaide in couple of months. I wish to understand everything relating to living in Adelaide from job market(IT-Information Technology) to schools and health care.

I am married and I am moving with family. I wish to understand the below and any help in this direction is greatly appreciated.

1) Current IT job market in Adelaide.
I have experience as IT Project/Program manager and have 18yrs experience. My primary IT experience is in IT Infrastructure (Datacenters, Cloud, Databases)
2) Accomodation
A decent space for me and my family( 2 kids). How do we find a house for short stay and long stay in Adelaide. What is the average cost per month?
3) Schools
what is the process for school admissions. (School 7th & 4th in India). Are expats eligible for public schools from day one?
4) health care
Does expats get health coverage? or do we need to buy insurance?

My idea is to come alone initially and then bring my family.

If any one can help guide me, i would be so thankful.

Hello

What visa will you be on when in Adelaide?  Job market in  Adelaide is difficult especially with covid along with travel restrictions. You may want to look for work while overseas but chances are you will not get a reply from prospective employers but it will give you an idea of what sort of jobs are available. If you can secure work at tertiary institutions this would be good while defense and health care are usually for Australian nationals. Google Seek dot com or Indeed dot come as a start.

As for budgeting accommodation Google real estate websites like real-estate dot com dot au. I would estimate 2000 AUD per month for rent. This will give you a reference point if you want to be close to the city while further out you can get cheaper but transportation costs will increase. Yes get medical insurance but again depending on your visa, you may be entitled to Medicare. The same situation may apply for children education whether or not they are eligible to access public education. If not then, the private ones may accept. Again contact the schools.

Perhaps you can come on your own first to get your bearings and feel for the place. Afterwards you can bring the rest of the family.

Feel free to field more questions but the ones you have asked is dependent on the type of visa you are coming to Australia with as you know different visas with different conditions.

Good luck,
Norman
