Hello everyone.

2 weeks  ago my  husband cancelled our flights for April because of this coronavirus. But no reply from the  website. We booked it online last  January.

My  friend gets 85% back and my other friend from 900 euro they get 600 back. All different airlines and websites. That's better.

My husband thinks  they will not refund us since it is us  cancelled the flights and he did not  call the website.  I don't understand his point. If they returned some amount i think thats fair but taking the whole amount is not good.

What do we do?  Is my  husband correct?

Hi again.

it will depend on the small print on your tickets - some tickets (especially bargain versions) do not permit changes/refunds.  Basically, if the flight you were booked on still flies as per the schedule in April, then it will be you that cancelled the flight and the airline are not liable to refund anything.

However, if there are regulatory reasons, i.e. a government ban on travel, then normally the airlines will allow you to rebook to a later date or some are even offering vouchers; not many are offering cash refunds at the moment.  My advice is to speak to the airline and see what they say.

Hope this helps.
