Good.morning.  sorry but it won't be allowed.  It's too old to be imported and won't qualify yet as vintage either.

Hi there,

Thanks for the comment. Now, this truck is a 2006 Ford box truck coming from Haiti. I was considering having it driven here. The plans were to use it as a business truck for transporting things in the Dominican Republic.

As.far as.i am aware importing is importing and it's not allowed.

Wichlyc

Fair enough. Who would I contact to find out what's allowed to import? TIA!

Wichlyc

I did a quick Google search and may have come up with something. Thanks for your feedback.

5yrs old maximum and often you have to have owned it for a year before importation
Then the taxes

planner

Exactly.  That's what's allowed

Wichlyc

Yes, 5-years old maximum for vehicles. But, no older than 15-years for commercial vehicles. The box truck will be driving from Haiti into the Dominican Republic. However, the commercial vehicle was exported from Massachusetts into Haiti 5 years ago. In overall, I think I should be fine as long as all the documents are in place.

Keep it reg'd in Haiti.......

use it as you wish in Hispaniola

fast, easy, cheaper

Wichlyc

I understand. But, it wouldn't make much sense for what I have planned. I have plans for the truck here in D.R., not in Haiti.

People use their Pto Rico cars here....
Haiti is no different

Drive/Use it here... keep it reg'd there

Wichlyc

Really! I have never come across such a thing. I'm going to look into it but I'd rather have the vehicle registered here. Thanks for your time and help.

planner

It may be an issue to use it here and not have it registered here.  Not sure on that one best to ask a lawyer and an insurance agent!

Wichlyc

I agree.
