Hi,
I am planning to live in Istanbul for a few months this summer to learn the language as well as experience the culture of Turkey. I need an inexpensive apartment (studio, etc.).
I checked the usual sites such as Craigslist but they are all expensive  for me.They are about same as in Germany, France, etc. Can anyone direct me to a source which is reliable as well as trustworthy for me to find an economical place to stay? Or am I just being unreasonable?
By the way, I have been living in Buenos Aires for the past two years. It is getting expensive here to live.
Thank you,
Hugo

Hello Hugo,

I am moving myself to a new place in Turkey for work from 1st of March 09 to 1st of November 09 and could rent you my current flat in Istanbul, how long will you be coming for?
It is a 3 room flat (approx.60 m2), newly renovated 10 months ago (European standards) with double glazing windows, central heating system and it is fully furnished.
There are a large one living room separated in 2 parts: living area and study area, one common room with a bar and 1 bedroom with a double bed.
The kitchen has a brand new fridge (3 weeks old), a washing machine, gas cooker, a small oven, kettle, toaster, etc.
Internet connection is available, satellite TV as well (free), I am leaving everything necessary in the flat (vacuum cleaner, Ikea dishes, etc.)
Rental is 800 YTL / month and deposit 1500 YTL.

let me know if interested and I shall send you some pics.

Cheers
Astrid

Dear Astrid,  I read about your flat that you are interested in renting in Istanbul. If you haven't already found someone, perhaps I may be able to rent it. I am an Australian woman spending 10 weeks in Istanbul from August-October with my 3 children aged 14, 12 and 6. We are checking Istanbul out with a view to living there and would love a 'home' while there. My children take great care with everything and are not disruptive. Your home would be in good hands and I could provide references if you wish. Please let me know if this is a possibility for you. If not, any other suggestions you have would be welcome. Thanks, Kim Rowan. kimaisling@yahoo.com.au

Dear Kim,

Thank you for your message. Unfortunately, my flat is already rented out. It would have been 2 small with your children (there is only one bedroom.
I sincerely hope you will find a place vey quickly, let me know if I can be of any help or if I can recommand you some areas to live, etc.
I am sure you will love Istanbul ! It's a vibrant place, although very hot in the summer ;-)
And if you feel like having a break with the kids while you are there, please do not hesitate to come down to the south to this beautiful little town : dalyanhotelsandybrown.com
I'll be most happy to welcome you !

Kindest Regards,
Astrid

i am planning to move to instanbul for few month this year can anyone recommend a reasonable priced apartment and area please and how i go about getting it all sorted from here

Hi,
I was in th same boat as you looking for a flat for a several months stay. I did find a place through Craigslist (inquired through housing wanted section of the Housing in Istanbul). I got  lots of responses. So, try doing that. Indicate what kind and how much you are willing to pay. Of course if you do not know the city, that is a problem. It is a matter of convenience versus neighborhoods. So, you could check out various neighborhoods for safety and convenience for your needs.(Ask for information on this forum. Someone can help since I do not know enough to give you good advice.)
I hope this helps somewhat.
Good luck,
Hugo
